Week with the parents continue...

We were way excited for the weekend, we had so much planned! Friday morning we woke up and went to the holocaust museum. Because Kurt had his federal badge we didn't have to wait in line for tickets, we just got to go straight through... Wahoo! There is actually a perk to this internship! haha. There is SO much to see at this museum. It took us about 3 hours to go through it.  Photography was not allowed inside the museum and we didn't think to get a picture outside of the building... So I don't have a picture to share sorry.
After the museum we walked over to the white house.
We think the president was coming out because some very rude guards kicked everyone off of the sidewalk close to the white house and all the way back to the sidewalk we were standing on.. Really?... I swear only in DC will you see that happen.  But this is how we got a very clear view of the white house without anyone on the sidewalk :)
So we really wanted to get an awesome view of Washington DC, and everyone knows that you can get tickets to go up to the top of the Washington monument. But instead of waiting in that huge line and crowd with people in a hot muggy elevator, we decided to go to the top of the old post office.
So a little secret, the old post office is 100ft shorter than the Washington monument, But you  still get an amazing view and this place is air conditioned and you are not squished in a crowd of people.
Kurt did not get the memo about the blue shirts, therefore he could not be in the picture. Just teasing. It was funny that we all wore blue shirts though.

The View:

The Lincoln memorial. (above)
The Congressional Bells at the top of the tower.

After seeing the amazing view we made our way over to Fords Theatre.
I remember my mom talking about her experience of seeing this place the first time she came to visit DC, so I was way excited to see it. Especially the house that he died in across the street.... BUT OF COURSE it was under construction, so we weren't able to go inside the house, but we got to go in the Theatre :)

Where Lincoln was sitting. They kept it how it was, because it was the presidential seating they have a picture of Washington in the middle. And below the stage that Booth jumped down on to escape.
Something I dont understand... Why do restoration inside the building or any construction for that matter during tourist season?? Do it in the winter for goodness sakes! There are so many things under construction right now it is driving us crazy.
We passed him on our way home.
To end our fun, busy, SUPER hot Friday we went back to the hotel for a night of swimming and pizza.
